This is Washington Capitals rookie Alexander Ovechkin's amazing falling-backward, over-the-head, twisting goal. This is from Monday night's game against Phoenix. It's being called one of the greatest goals of all time. Ovechkin is now being considered for the Hart Trophy, hockey's MVP award.

Yeah Crosby can go around anyone. But Ovechkin can go through anyone! To this day no one has scored a better goal than that!

Guy!: Ovechkin is the going to be the next Wayne Gretzky -- He pulls off some serious shit. To be totally honest Crosby does have some pretty outrageous skill as well but it's not in comparison with what Ovechkin has to offer

#2> was when Mr. Orr killed a 2-minute penalty, all by himself.: None can compare those two quality hockey feats to Malik's lucky 15th round shootout hot dog goal on a dead tired goalie, or Ovechkin's "Hail Mary" blind swipe in the general direction of an empty net. Someday, Ovechkin may make the greatest play in history, but he sure as hell hasn't come close yet. Still, a great goal from a young star. He deserved the Calder. He's about the 20th non-Canadian to win it in the last 75 yrs. Wow! We're slippin

Say all you want about the "best goal ever.": The best two "plays" ever weren't goals at all. #1> Bobby Orr came flying straight down the middle, got flattened but continued sliding forwards on his back. He looked down on his left and found the puck on the ice by his elbow and shoved it with his elbow to his blade. Then, still sliding on his back, does a behind the back reverse pass through the slot right onto the tape of Johnny Bucyk who one-timed it to the twine. No luck whatsoever, he knew precisely wha

good effort but not the best: that was a nice goal but the best goal i saw was in a shootout nyr vs wash when marek malik went between his legs and put it up top shelf i think u can see the clip on espn.com

      Vigorous - 2 years ago

@tylusciousNo...: that moves been done before. It's fancy, but not the greatest. Orr owns the best goal ever. I do think Ovechkin is up there though. This was a redicuolus shot, but in my opinion the goalie should have made the play on, he gave up because he saw Alex go down.

UMM too bad: Too bad mister trent when i tryed to use your link there it came up not found... big surprise. SOME reporters may vote but it basically has nothing ot do with the final decision. Blue bubble? yeah right i support my team no matter what and wont hop on any other BANDWAGON. Just because they arent doing as well this year as in the past doesnt mean im going to lose faith.

LOL: netminder shut the fuck up... seriously, i promise you couldnt of stopped that, thats why he's playing professional hockey, and your not. but wow thats pretty amazing, may have been partly luck but that doesnt make it any worse :-)

  • Netminder01

cant believe it: how did that goalie let that in, seriously i wouldve had that one, and yes i am a goalie so i know what i am talking about, it shouldnt have gone in, he shouldve slid to his post by then.

  • Trent_Steel

    Trent_Steel - 2 years ago

Hey Leaf genius: Leave it to a leaf fan to know little about the NHL other then the blue bubble he lives in. Reporters vote on most trophies http://www.nhl.com/hockeyu/history/trophies/hart.html

  • DangerDonno

    DangerDonno - 2 years ago

....: You are one to talk about spelling cheese dick. Leafs Fucking Rock and Buffalo sucks and so does basketball and its the HART trophy and he should be considered and since when do KNOW nothing reporters have ANYTHING to do with who wins what trophy? think before you type bud.

  • Trent_Steel

    Trent_Steel - 2 years ago

WTF: This Break guy obviously doesn’t watch much hockey. No way Ovechkin get’s any votes for the Heart. If he does it will just be a few no nothing Washington reporters. This was a damn pretty goal to watch but totally circumstantial. He got lucky with a good bounce off the defenders skates that fouled the goalie and his persistence then paid off. As for myself I think it shows much more skill when a player outright deeks a defender then roofs the puck. BTW since when can leaf fans spell

Nice!: It was a great goal. Anytime you have Gretzky looking at the jumbotron, it has to be good.

P.S.: twelve years old? whos feeling inadequate when they need to attack someone personally? butthole is just a part of the body many people use to argue with ppl they dont know so if it offended you personally somehow i apologize...

  • DangerDonno

    DangerDonno - 2 years ago

...: Butthole is a perfectly kromulent word. but finally something i can agree with i would love to see a game end like that. and how would i feel inadequate from you talking about some goal by a kid from russia? im not russian. i just love hockey. and THAT is the bottom line.

  • ColeTrickle

    ColeTrickle - 2 years ago

...: Do you always use profanity when you can't come back with an intelligent response? I guess a person knows they have made you feel inadequate when you start dropping the F bomb. You are right though the basketball scores are retarded. I would love to see a game with a final score of 3 to 2.

  • jaezus

    jaezus - 2 years ago

daaaaamn boy: thats insane....if he tried to do that on purpose or not...that was amazing...it's not the fact that he made the goal, but the mere fact that he managed to shoot the puck that accurately from that kind of position...yeah..that is skill..get used to it..the kids good!

  • ColeTrickle

    ColeTrickle - 2 years ago

butthole???: I'm guessing DangerDonno is 12 because he called me a butthole. I did finish the sentenc, but I guess it was too long to post so here it is...To me hockey is just a lot of skating and trying to hit a puck into a net, but I've never played so I know there is probably much more to it. You must be very skilled to play any sport well and that is the bottom line.

  • DangerDonno

    DangerDonno - 2 years ago

    AND..: finish your sentences butthole.

  • DangerDonno

    DangerDonno - 2 years ago

Thank you I do know everything FUCKER: If those are goalies they are doing the shittiest job ever i mean look at the scores of basketball games its retarded. And i would like to shoot over one of those guys. I'd knock him down and poop on his chest and say hockey rocks bitch and slap him in his stupid face.

  • ColeTrickle

    ColeTrickle - 2 years ago

For the guy who knows everything: DangerDonno Anyone can make a just shot. That is a valid statement. However making it consistently is the key and not just anyone can do that. By the way those seven foot tall guys standing in the lane...those are the goalies. How would you like to shoot over one of those guys? And you can argue that any sport is repetitive. I've played basketball for 15 years and i know there is much more to basketball than just running and throwing a ball into a hole without a go

  • DangerDonno

    DangerDonno - 2 years ago

AND..: And hockey is anything but repetitive!
