Fiddle? Violin? I dont know for sure but the person who submitted this video called it a fiddle. This guy has some real talent, check out his renditions of Michael Jacksons Smooth Criminal and Owner of a Lonely Heart by Yes.

When you put steel strings on it so you can "saw" on it or fiddle, as opposed to playing in a more concert-like manner, it is a fiddle. Southerners may call them all fiddles, but a name does not a fiddle make. We had a violin that we had to re-string so my daughter could play it as a violin, not a fiddle as her great-grandfather had.

@gadams1887No, people who live in the south don't call them a fiddle. My wife has lived in the south her entire life, and has been a professional violinist, a concert violinist, or a symphonic violinist since she started playing at the age of seven. She's never called it a fiddle, except when someone asks her to whip out a fiddle tune, then she can "saw" with the best of them. In the meantime, she's earned part of her living performing on the violin with the likes of Rod Stewart, the Moody Blues,
