Electric Eel's really got screwed when they were handing out defense mechanisms. You definitely teach your attacker a lesson he won't forget but on the down side your both dead.

You can see the wire in the "eels" mouth and between 23 and 25 seconds you can see the guys holding it near the base of the tree. Watch it shake when he whistles. Not even a good fake vid.

its true they caught the eel but they could have been in a part of africa or south america a trick that they use to catch and kill alligator is to tie a wire/fishing line of some sort to a tree with a hook then they catch a electric eel then after that they will wait until a alligator comes looking for a easy snack and when the alligator bites down you get two pray for the price of one plus the eel discharges its electricity making it safe to capture so for the people who thing this is possible animal cruel

yes the alligator was there only to be killed eels dont have enough of a shock to lock the jaws of a gator they would only feel the shock then get away from the source
