no: this does not "show how fast you are really going"....it shows you how fast double your speed is. Take half of the closing speed of 2 bodies and you have your actual speed. relatively.

victar airway?: traveling east you should fly odd thousands plus 500 feet; traveling west you should fly even thousands plus 500 feet. this is how it works in the sky. their are no problems here.

Distances...: Judging by the jetstreams and cloud roof, id say the plane taking the footage is at fl37 or 38. the plane above is 3000ft above it. why? 1000ft is illeagal and dangerous, and they fly in steps depending whish direction the planes are headed. The other 2 were 3000 below. The pilots would have already known about local traffic, and the fedex plane was the 3rd plane judging by what was said,

Not close at all!: The closing speed on jets that were close would be like 800 mph. You wouldn't even see the other aircraft, just the trail.
