The Shifting Landscape of Health Care Fraud and Regulatory Compliance Regulators Increase Scrutiny As Health Care Costs Consume Higher Share of GDP. As health care costs continue to accelerate and consume an ever-higher percentage of GDP, federal and state regulators are ratcheting up efforts to find fraud. According to the Deloitte Forensic Center, criminal investigations, civil investigations, civil penalties and criminal convictions are all on the rise. The threat of treble damages, higher rewards for whistleblowers and more sophisticated "data mining" techniques give regulators more weapons in their fraud-fighting arsenal. I wonder how much the Obama fiscal stimulus plan will actually stimulate the GDP? Is there a happy ending for oil companies and commodities brokers pushing up prices? Hey Wally how’s the greed going down there on America’s main street baby? You know, speculate, loose investor’s money and receive big bonuses. I’d like to stimulate your infrastructure with my big bonus. OK later Wally, but first I need to see how thin the old money in the financial district have spread themselves by over stimulating. Funding bad assets is a way to make people think that you’re helping them, while one’s really helping oneself. After our happy ending we’ll have squeezed out a big share of the investment capital. After it’s all gone. Poof. So am I.
