Islam, just like Mormonism, was born out of an angelic visitation. In the case of Islam, a poor illiterate Arab living in the Middle East was to be the recipient. It is claimed, that for 23 years, God used Gabriel to communicate with Muhammad, and subsequently this is how the Koran came to be.
