Founded in 1984, this year also marks the 25th anniversary of the Surfrider Foundation. To celebrate the milestone, the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project will help rescue, renew and restore 25 new beaches and lakes this summer. Each year, over 25,000 beaches in the United States are closed or posted as unhealthy. To help change this, Barefoot Wine, is asking Americans across the country to kick off their shoes and help “heel” a beach this summer. Musician Mason Jennings, who is signed on to Jack Johnson’s Brushfire label, will join volunteers on the beach and perform live at special celebrations that follow a number of beach rescue events.
