Slovakias Filip Polc took top honors in the Red Bull Desafio no Morro, an unprecedented mountain bike downhill competition inside a “favela” (slum) in Rio de Janeiro.Polcs best time of 1:39.91 down the 760 meters of the favelas alleys and staircases was enough to edge Brazilian Markolf Berchtold by over 1.5s. Britains Dan Atherton completed the podium with a top mark of 1:42.29.Dans brother Gee Atherton entered the competition in Brazil as the clear favorite, and confirmed those expectations by topping the qualifying session on Saturday. Race day didnt equal lucky day for Gee, however, who ended up last among the 10 riders competing after suffering a flat rear tire halfway through the course.http://redbull.com
