Former Merchant Taylors pupil Andrew Oliver, who attended the now demolished boarding house of the school in Crosby during the reign of the Beatles from '63-'70 and as a result became smitten with the music bug has a tale to tell. He is now Penzance' favourite busker, yet has recently been drowned out by cinema noise pollution. This story featured in local Cornish newspapers and on BBC Radio Cornwall during the last week of July. After writing to the cinema for some co-operation he received a disappointing reply. So he wrote a song about the whole affair and made a video as well.
