Whigmaleerie as a Scottish Folk Group before it morphed into a Ceilidh Dance Band in the early 1990s.Three of the present band, John Duncan, John Woodside and Ian Ross are from a traditional folk background all be it with different bands.John Duncan is the only original member of Whigmaleerie from 1985 still with the band. Although Alistair Robertson and John Duncan were playing together in a country band as far back as 1987. The present Ceilidh Band was formed around 1992 when the folk group and country band came together as one band, Whignaleerie Ceilidh Dance Band.http://www.scots-ceilidh.co.uk
