Everyone these days are keeping tabs on their local law enforcement, making sure they don’t get out of line and that means even the most casual offenses like, say, parking in a handicap spot. Police have been doing this for years but thanks for camera phones, we can finally catch them in the act. Unfortunately, instead of being presented a key to the city, the woman who caught this cop car in a handicap parking space was actually fined for posting the photo on her facebook page. A $629 dollar fine to be specific.
After posting the image along with the caption “Park where you bloody well please and you won’t even be fined”, the authorities in Spain let her know she actually broke this law: The unauthorised use of images of police officers that might jeopardise their or their family’s safety or that of protected facilities or police operations. It’s like a “I know you are but what am I” with police. She got them, but they definitely got her right back and not long after. The police tracked down the facebook image 48 hours after it had posted.
Even though they’re stating that the image might jeopardise the officer’s or their families, it’s not like she posted an image of the officer’s faces or where the location even was. Just the car. Which is parked in public anyway.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what the police had to say as far as why they had parked in a handicap spot to begin with, they stated that they were dealing with vandalism in a nearby park. You would think the police could literally park anywhere and not have to use a handicap spot, but hey, maybe that’s just me.
