Weird Al is having a great week. Some are even calling it a comeback, considering 2011's Alpocalypse just came and went without a peep. But it could also be that Al is utilizing the internet to his advantage this time around.
Yesterday we reported that Al tweeted big news that each day this week he would release a new music to support his newest album Mandatory Fun, which comes out today! The first video was "Tacky" and people loved it. The second video just released is a take on Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines".; And believe it or not, you may actually learn something by watching it.
On Weird Al's website, he already has placeholders ready to go for the rest of the week, which is also a nice reminder of the day's date. Who needs a dumb calendar when you have Weird Al's music video schedule.
Do you think Weird Al can keep the momentum? "Tacky" certainly placed a high bar early on with every news outlet covering his return. Either way, this is a pretty solid parody of Billboard's longest running #1 single in 2013. My only issue is that it would've been amazing to see him parody the actual "Blurred Lines" music video as he has done with his countless other parodies. So why not this one? Maybe since he's made a full schedule for himself, it was better to just leave it to some animators so he could move on to shoot something more worthwhile. I suppose "Blurred Lines" was also the most parodied music video of last year, so I can't blame him for not wanting to be redundant.
Regardless, one cool easter egg you can find in this video is of a retro Al next to the definition of Accordian. Pretty cool!
