A note written by JJ Abrams was just released and it's kind of epic. But that's not the interesting part of this picture.
The note reads: "Dearest Cast and Crew -- What an honor it is to work beside all of you, on Star Wars Ep VII. I can’t thank you enough, for all work past and future. Let’s take good care of not just ourselves, but of each other. Amazing, but true: the world awaits this film. Let’s give ‘em something GREAT. xo JJ." It is a lovely note, but what peaks my interest more than the note itself is the watermark underneath.
Presumably on what looks to be a script cover page, and with a few of the letters cropped out, the name appears to be Dawn Gillian? After doing a quick internet search, turns out a Dawn Gilliam worked as a Script Supervisor on Star Trek Into Darkness which was directed by JJ Abrams. So it's safe to assume the new Episode VII Script Supervisor is Ms. Gilliam, who is apparently already taking pictures of her script and getting them out onto the world-wide web. With films like this, there must be oodles of signed confidentiality agreements with paranoia that even the slightest info will be leaked, so the fact that someone so close to the script is already getting pictures onto the internet is probably a big no-no with this production. Granted, it's not a shot of Harrison Ford in Han gear, but still, I'm sure a red flag went up somewhere especially since this wasn't an official picture released by either Abrams or the Star Wars brand.
Oddly enough, Dawn has a Script Supervising Training Video on youtube under her own youtube channel, which you can enjoy below. We wonder if the training also recommends to not post production photos onto the internet from a highly secretive film. Again, we're not talking about Smurfs 3 here.
So we'll see if Ms. Gilliam gets any backlash for taking pictures of Abrams' personal note on what looks to be her personal copy of the script. I for one would hate to have my name on any pictures related to Episode VII that hasn't been approved.
