Spiderman Statue Removed From Children’s Park Because It Had A Big Boner

Yep, that’s Spiderman with a big erection alright.

Artist Eunsuk Yoo apparently thought he could add a little edge to the Spiderman statue he created which hung from the side of the Lotte Shopping Center in Busan, South Korea until passersby noticed that something was a little off with their maybe overly friendly neighborhood web crawler.

The worst part is that the statue actually hung over a playground outside of the shopping center, which left many parents more than disturbed. Seriously, this thing looks like it’s about to break through.

After the statue was placed, it took more than a year for people to complain which lead to Yoo getting an ultimatum. He had to either fix the statue or the mall would have to remove it. Apparently Yoo decided to not disrespect his art so the statue was quickly removed.

As if a Spiderman statue with a huge boner wasn’t perfect enough, Yoo posted a dumbfounding explanation as to why he made such a random addition to the popular Marvel character. Here’s what he said as posted to his Facebook page translated from Korean.

I am the artist who made this piece. My reason for it was that I wanted apply the natural physical phenomenon to a superhero depict whats’s natural in the morning without lies and superficial-ness in a comical way.

There have been some comments on various community sites and Facebook pages that this is lewd and a disgrace to the source material. Lotte Shopping Center has received many complaint calls this morning from a certain organization, and after their meeting, it was decided that I have to either modify or take the statue down. Instead of modifying my work, I’ve decided to take it down.

It was ok for about a year and now it has to be taken down due a sudden interest in the piece, which is sad. But I understand that a piece that could be potentially interpreted as lewd can be offensive at a place like a shopping mall. It’s disappointing, but I’ll reach out to the public with a better work next time.

“I can understand that a piece that could be potentially interpreted as lewd can be offensive at a place like a shopping mall.” Y’think, Yoo??

No word what actually happened to the statue after it was removed or if Yoo has made any further boner art for the public, but I’ll make sure to keep my eye out for it on ebay. I’ve got $25 bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
