WHO IS SHAKIRA?
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia where she was raised. Her parents are Nidia Ripoll and William Mebarak Chadid and she is their only child although she has eight half brothers and sisters from her father’s previous marriage. Shakira is of Spanish, Italian descent on her mother’s side and Lebanonese from her father’s side. Shakira wrote her first poem when she was four and started writing even more poetry after she got a typewriter as a gift when she was 7 years old. These poems later evolved into her song lyrics. Famous for her ability to strut her stuff doing belly dancing moves, Shakira started belly dancing after her father took her to a local Middle Eastern restaurant when she was four years old. It was there she first heard the doumbek, a drum used in Arabic music and used frequently to accompany belly dancing. Shakira said in a MTV interview that the way she first learned how to belly dance was by trying to flip a coin with her stomach. She often dances in bare feet and her moves are based on the art of belly dancing which is a part of her Lebanese heritage. As a child, Shakira discovered she loved performing and said that at school, she got to be known as “the belly dancer girl.”
Ok, you knew Shakira wasn’t born blond, right?
WHY IS SHE FAMOUS?
Shakira’s musical influences are Latin, Arabic and rock and roll and she’s said stated that in her opinion the two songs that are absolutely perfect are "No Woman, No Cry" by Bob Marley and "Imagine" by John Lennon. When she was a pre-teen, Shakira performed and participated in various music events in Barranquilla. She met a local theater producer, Monica Ariza who introduced Shakira to a Sony Colombia music executive, Ciro Vargas who arranged for Shakira to audition for other Sony executives in Bogotá where she performed three songs. Afterwards, Sony signed her to a three album deal. Shakira’s first two albums Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993) didn’t have much commercial success but her third album, Pies Descalzos (1996) became Shakira's breakthrough record and established her in the Latin American market.
Shakira’s fourth album, Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998) was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. For the album, Shakira won two Latin Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Shakira’s fifth album, Laundry Service (2001) is the first that she recorded primarily in English due to Gloria Estefan’s encouragement. Shakira worked with Gloria’s husband, Emilio on her previous albums and Gloria felt Shakira should crossover into the English-language market. Shakira studied English so that she could write her lyrics properly and the album spawned a single, “Whenever, Wherever,” which became the biggest hit of 2001 and is now one of Shakira’s signature songs.
Shakira followed up in 2005 with her sixth album, Fijación Oral, Vol. 1, a Latin pop album and her seventh album Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 became her second English-language record. The single "Hips Don't Lie" from Vol. 2 featured Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean and became Shakira’s first number one single in the U.S. In January 2007, the two albums were released as a box set, Oral Fixation, Vol. 1 & 2 and Shakira went on the Oral Fixation Tour in 2006 and 2007 which reportedly grossed more than US $100 million worldwide. Reported to have an IQ of 140, after the tour ended in the summer of 2007, Shakira attended UCLA Extension classes in Los Angeles and took courses in History of Western Civilization using her middle and last name, Isabel Mebarak to avoid recognition. In 2008, international touring company Live Nation signed Shakira to a 10-year deal. Forbes then named her the fourth highest earning female musician in history. In 2009, Shakira released an electropop album with world music influences, She Wolf, her eighth studio album. The album reportedly has sold more than two million copies worldwide. In 2010, Shakira released Sale el Sol and debuted at number on both the Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts. The album reached number seven on the US Billboard 200 chart and in late 2010, Shakira began a world tour.
Shakira’s song, "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" featuring South African band Freshlyground was released on May 7, 2010 and chosen as the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Shakira and Freshlyground performed the song at the World Cup opening and closing ceremonies. According to Nielsen, "Waka Waka" has sold ten million digital copies worldwide and You Tube ranks the music video as their eighth most-watched video with over 700 million views. Shakira became a mother on January 22, 2013 after she gave birth to Milan Piqué Mebarak, a son that she had with Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué. On March 25, 2013, she joined Season Four of the American version of The Voice as a coach. In 2014, the lead single "Can't Remember to Forget You" introduced her tenth album, Shakira.
WHERE CAN I SEE SHAKIRA NUDE?
Thanks to the music video to "Can't Remember to Forget You," you can see Shakira sorta nude. Even though this sexy vixen has an affinity for torn jeans, sexy clothes and hip shaking moves, Shakira hasn’t appeared nude either professionally or even on a beach like many South Americans like to do. However, Shakira has appeared in her underwear a couple of times in her music videos like 2005’s “Don’t Bother” and in 2011 for the single, “Rabiosa” in which Shakira wears a black bobbed wig to go with her a black bra and panties while she shakes her ass-ets on a stripper pole.
In "Can't Remember to Forget You," she gets pretty frisky and clothes-less in the video in which she co-stars with none other than Rihanna. Since these two are some of music’s sexiest superstars, nothing less than a steamy video would be acceptable. Both of the ladies are wearing a series of skimpy outfits as they sing about their mutual addiction to a man who is no good for them. Shakira wears a sexy black bathing suit before the video cuts to her in a pool where she appears nearly naked. The duo then have a raunchy dance-off, both gyrating against the wall separating them. The video heats up when the songstresses lie down and start caressing each other. Rihanna even puts her hand near Shakira’s breasts, almost touching them. Almost is the key word here; almost nude, almost kissing but hey, for Shakira and Rihanna fans and their wild fantasies, it’s better than nothing. Now, this isn’t the first time Shakira has teamed up with a pop diva. In 2007, Shakira collaborated with Beyoncé Knowles on the track, “Beautiful Liar” in which the two sang about how a catfight over the same guy isn’t worth the trouble. Seems like there’s a reoccurring theme going on here.

Here's a behind the scenes look at the making of the video:
There is a fake video on the internet claiming to be a Shakira sex tape with her soccer star boyfriend, Gerard Pique. The rumor behind the video is that two of Shakira's former employees were trying to shop around the sex tape which ultimately turned out to be fake. It may look like Shakira but just because the woman is Latin and has blond curly hair, former employees need to know that’s not enough to make it a Shakira sex tape. In May 2012, there was another rumor that Shakira was going to pose nude for Playboy. RCN Radio reported that Playboy offered her $50 million to appear in the magazine and that she was going to donate the money to her foundation. However, Shakira herself responded to a fan tweet about the rumor saying, “Absolutely untrue. But get used to it guys, u know that every week they make up something new ;)” Boy, if those rumors were true, Shakira would be taking the definition of charitable to a whole new level.
