Ricky Gervais Tweets Pic Of Hunter With Killed Giraffe: She Gets Death Threats

Comedian Ricky Gervais poked a bear with a stick so to speak when he tweeted a photo of infamous hunter Rebecca Francis smiling as she laid next a giraffe she had just killed. Regarding the fresh kill, Gervais tweeted “What must’ve happened to you in your life to make you want to kill a beautiful animal & then lie next to it smiling?”

Francis, who won the reality series Extreme Huntress and co-hosted Eye of The Hunter is no stranger to hunting controversy. Her social media posts of her hunting trip trophies have included black bears, Alaskan moose, sheep, rams, deer and elks as well as previous giraffes in Africa.

On twitter, a lot of these posts really go off with a bang. Her most recent kill even got her death threats such as @AsapGinger1 who said:

“I know this is very hypocritical of me but I want to f—— shoot her just for this picture.”

Roar!  This controversy is similar to Texas Tech University cheerleader Kendall Jones who posts similar photos posing next to her fresh kills. Did Ted Nugent unleash his daughters to the world?

Francis responded to the uproar by releasing a statement to a hunting website explaining that she was asked to kill the giraffe by a local village who say that it would have died soon anyway. They wanted it for the meat and were not going to let any part of the animal go to waste.

“I chose to honor his life by providing others with his uses and I do not regret it for one second,” she said. “Once he was down there were people waiting to take his meat. They also took his tail to make jewelry, his bones to make other things, and did not waste a single part of him,” Francis said. “I am grateful to be a part of something so good.”

So which side are you on? Is Ricky right to call out this big game hunter for smiling and glorifying the death of a majestic creature or is she justified in making good use of Giraffe meat?   Or it’s all just a bit of rubbish now isn’t it?
