Racist HVAC Guy Who Followed Black Guy Home Just To Call Him The N-Word Is Getting Roasted On Yelp

I understand casual racism — like where the person in front of you in line doesn’t speak English well and you get pissed because it’s taking forever – but at the same time even if the person DID speak English fluently you’d still be shitting on them internally. But the sort of racism where you literally chase people down just to be an asshole? That’s mind-boggling. At that point you’re taking time out of your day just to risk getting filmed being a master race douchebag out in public, sort of like what Jeffrey Whitman did.

You see, Jeffrey Whitman is the owner of Uriah’s Heating and Cooling in Powell, Ohio. Jeffrey was driving his company van last Tuesday when he decided to follow a black dude home and launch into a racist tirade:

Supposedly the black driver cut him off, but that shouldn’t make any difference. Ask yourself how many times you’ve gotten cut off while driving, then calculate the number of times you followed the driver home for two miles just to scream racial slurs at him – if that number is higher than zero, congratulations! You are in definite need of some road rage-related therapy.

After the video of Jeffrey’s tirade went viral, he says that it’s ruined his life. “It was an awful mistake and obviously I don’t know how to explain it, and it’s ruined my life and it’s ruined my family’s life,” he told the Columbus Dispatch. I’m out of business, I’m completely out, I’m done, I’ll never work in Columbus again. This has completely and thoroughly ruined my life.”

First of all, nothing you did was a mistake. You had two whole miles to be like “You know what? Maybe stalking this dude all the way to his house isn’t the brightest idea.” And then while the dude you followed is BLATANTLY filming you being a bigoted asshole, at no point did he think about how it could bite him back in the ass. Also – and I feel like this is pretty obvious – at no point in his pathetic quote to the Dispatch does he apologize for his actions; he just whines about how his life is fucked because of it.

I am all for people growing and learning from their mistakes, and don’t think that people should be permanently on-trial when they’ve fucked up in the past – but they have to apologize for it, and not just go through the motions.

As for how Jeffrey’s business has been ruined, the Yelp reviews paint a wonderful picture:

Protip for Jeffrey Whitman: next time you wanna go on a racist tirade, don’t do it while sitting in the company van.
