The New X-Files Will Be Keeping The Iconic Opening Credits

The X-Files is returning to FOX but the better news is creator Chris Carter knows how to NOT mess with a good thing, unlike most creatives in Hollywood. We knew the show's infamous, nightmare-inducing theme song would more than likely stick around but it's much more than that. Apparently the entire iconic opening credits will also be scene at the beginning of each new episode during the show's new six-episode run.

Carter, who revealed a portion of the new show to an audience in Cannes, France revealed this new information to a more than welcoming crowd.

“We thought about doing some changes to the original credits, but then it seemed like sacrilege,” he said. “Those credits were on 202 episodes. They belong on these next six.”

Smart move, Carter. Especially since most people in Hollywood like to change certain elements of shows and properties that have proven to be a winning point in the original design. I'm looking at you G.I. Joe movie costume designers.

Check out the original show intro below. No word if they're going to at the very least update Mulder and Scully's FBI identification cards but a part of me hopes not.

The new episode run premieres on January 26th and we already have our tinfoil hats ready to go.
