New NASA Manned Spaceship Orion Is On The Launchpad

Since retiring the Space Shuttle program in 2011, American astronauts have hitched a ride into space with the Russians. Now fans of space flight can get excited as NASA is readying the new Orion space craft for a test launch on December 4th. New photos show the crew capsule on top of the Delta IV Heavy rocket at the launch pad at Cape Canaveral.

You know what they say about a space program with a big rocket?

The Orion spacecraft is meant to take humans back into deep space with possible Mars missions in the 2030’s. This initial test flight will be unmanned in order to get the bugs out and test the equipment. After launch the Orion will orbit the Earth two times at 3,600 miles above the ground.

Are you excited to see this thing launch?
