Ever since the patterns were discovered, scientists have been completely baffled by theses constructions origins or purpose. Now NASA is turning to the public in an effort to find ideas on the purpose of some 8000 year old structures in Kazakhstan with these recently released satellite images. So Break, can you help NASA out?
Round earthly mounds in Kazakhstan? Very niiiiice!
The fact that NASA is looking for help from the public in identifying the structures makes sense considering how they were discovered in the first place. Back in 2007 a man from Kazakhstan named Dmitriy Dey was watching a television show on the Egyptian pyramids and wondered if anything similar existed in his country. So he got on Google Earth and did some quick research. And wouldn’t you know it, instead of pyramids his internet search came up with what is now known as the Steppe Geoglyphs. Scientists believe the structures to be at least 8,000 years old. Who says all that time you spend dicking around the Internet all day is wasted?
These earth constructions in the Turgai region of northern Kazakhstan make geometric shapes and consist of mounds and trenches. Much like Stonehenge, scientists are not sure who built the ancient structure or why it was built. Just like that fifth McDonald’s they opened up in your town.
What is most perplexing about the size and scope of the geoclyphs is how Stone Age tribes could have made them. There are around 260 designs in the earth which form squares, rings and… swastikas. So they were ancient Stone Age Nazis? (No, as your uncle with that awkward tattoo will tell you the swastika was used by other cultures and religions long before Hitler.)
Persis B Clarkson, an archaeologist at the University of Winnipeg, told the New York Times;
“The idea that foragers could amass the numbers of people necessary to undertake large-scale projects — like creating the Kazakhstan geoglyphs — has caused archaeologists to deeply rethink the nature and timing of sophisticated large-scale human organization as one that predates settled and civilized societies.”
So I think everyone will agree that one of the most likely scenarios we are looking at here is an alien UFO landing port. Scientists however want us to believe that it could possibly be an early form or art, a solar observatory, or serve some unknown religious or practical function. Which I think is there way of saying “aliens.”
