It’s hard to see how Monopoly became the best selling and most famous board game of all time. The game usually starts so many fights that it should be brought up on war crimes charges. A couple in Hooksett, New Hampshire got a taste of what evil the game has to offer, ending in a fight with some very real criminal charges.
21-year-old Alyssa Ferraro was playing a rousing game of Monopoly with her boyfriend when an argument broke out between the two. Ferraro slapped her boyfriend in the face with an open hand and the boyfriend called the police. Officers responded to the scene and charged Ferraro with domestic violence related simple assault and put her in jail on a $2,000 bond, which she posted sometime later. The boyfriend didn’t sustain any serious injuries and he should just consider herself lucky that she wasn’t holding a hotel when she slapped him because those little bastards hurt.
This is how we usually look after we play Monopoly, sans assaults.
Maybe this is a sign that we need to stop playing this game once and for all or alter the rules a bit so things like this don’t happen again. Here’s a suggestion: All games must be finished in a day or less.
