If You Were A Fan Of Thor, Be Prepared To Have Your Day Ruined

I'm not sure who is in charge over there at Marvel, but they need to stop drinking.

Since the foolish slip in Marvel's portfolio with letting Edgar Wright get away from directing Ant-Man over script issues, this is maybe the biggest screwup they have achieved. Thor will now be a woman. Pardon?

Jason Arron, the writer of the current Thor series for Marvel stressed that the new Thor isn't a relative, but literally Thor. And this is why I never really got into comic books, folks. The reveal was announced on The View of all places, which also displayed a picture of what the new pouty-lipped Thor will look like.

Thor wears a new mask to hide the shame.

Along with the image, Marvel released the following statement: "Thor, Marvel’s God of Thunder, will henceforth be a woman in the comics. The news is a major shift in Marvel’s continuity, since Thor is one of the oldest superheroes in the Marvel universe. Details are forthcoming…" The only details I want are which derp at Marvel thought this would be a good idea.

Jason Aaron, the writer on the current Thor series for Marvel comics said “This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before."

Aaron will go on to write the lady-Thor comic with artist Russell Dauterman for Marvel. Thor: God of Thunder will ship its last issue in September and female Thor will take over from there. As it was explained to me by my friend Dustin, this is not the same character as before. The Thor that we all know and love merely lost the title of "Thor" which has now been passed on to this woman. The previous Thor will still exist, but without Mjolnir and without the title of Thor. At least until the next Thor movie comes out and they change it back for the tie-in.  This makes way more sense than the sex-change I feared/secretly wanted.
