Feds Arrest 'The Fappening' Man Responsible For Hacking Celebrity Nudes

Ryan Collins

In September of 2014, the world collectively stopped to hear about how someone had hacked into the Apple iCloud and Google accounts of some of Hollywood's most beautiful women, stole their very personal nude photos and released them onto the internet. Well, the day has come and the Feds have finally captured the guy responsible. To make matters worse, the dude is married with two kids.

Ryan Collins, a 36-year-old resident of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and employee of an eCommerce marketing company admitted to hacking into those accounts and obtaining the photos after the Feds tracked him down at his home on the East coast. He has already signed a plea deal with the US Attorney's office in Los Angeles, California and could get five years in prison once he is sentenced. He is charged with Felony Computer Hacking.

According to those involved in the investigation, in the Fall of 2014, Collins took part in a phishing scheme, sending fake emails from Apple and Google in order to obtain the usernames and passwords of his vicitms. "In some instances, Collins downloaded the entire contents of the victims’ Apple iCloud backups, according to prosecutors." Thumbs up if you never respond to random emails asking for your personal information.

Although The Feds do admit they have no evidence that Collins actually uploaded the images or shared them with the internet, but something tells me that was probably the easier part of the job. Even my grandma knows how to upload a photo. Regardless, he is the one guilty of actually hacking and taking the images from those accounts.

The other A-list celebrities who are victims of Collins' work are Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Lea Michele, Hillary Duff, Kirsten Dunst and Vanessa Hudgens just to name a few. Collins had hacked, in total, 72 Google Gmail accounts and 50 Apple iCloud accounts.
