Krispy Kreme Accidentally Promotes Ku Klux Klan With “KKK Wednesdays”

Recently in the UK arm of the Krispy Kreme chain, the donut empire accidentally promoted the Ku Klux Klan as part of their week long effort in creating fun for patrons, specifically children. Unfortunately many noticed “KKK Wednesday” meant something completely different than what Krispy Kreme had originally thought.

The above image was posted to Krispy Kreme’s facebook page, but was then quickly removed after fans started to point out the huge error. Krispy Kreme’s original intention was for KKK to mean “Krispy Kreme Klub”, but there will never been another alliteration of KKK more popular than what has already been made famous by the white supremacy organization. Nice work, social media team. Nice work. The Krispy Kreme head office stated that Krispy Kreme Klub would move forward, but under a different name.

A spokesperson for Krispy Kreme released this comment:

Krispy Kreme apologises unreservedly for the inappropriate name of a customer promotion at one of our stores. This was sent from head office so it has been advertised at all the outlets

Of course our favorite KKK mishap comes from The Simpsons episode where Krusty the Clown hosted an episode called Krusty’s Komedy Klassics, but this recent mishap might just take the donut considering an entire company let this slide through without hesitation. Amazing.
