I AM NOT CURRENTLY ATTENDING A LIVE SPORTING EVENT BUT I WANT TO WATCH SOME KISS CAM VIDEOS, CAN YOU HELP ME?
A lot of kiss cam videos focus on embarrassment, humiliation, and/or degradation. But every once in a while you see a true triumph in kiss cam preparedness, and I figure that’s as good a way as any to kick us off. Take a look:
According to the story, this guy went to enough University of Minnesota basketball games with his attractive sister to know that he needed to start dealing with the problem of the two of them getting caught on the kiss cam. My favorite part of the whole thing is how confident the guy pulls it off, secure in the knowledge that the kiss cam will stay transfixed as he calmly takes the paper out of his pocket, waits, and then holds it up. Perfect execution.
NOW I WANT TO SEE SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE EMBARASSING, HOW ABOUT IT?
I get it, you came here so you can get a little burst of false superiority inside your brain. Well, this next kiss cam video might do the trick. it:
Some kiss cam fails have a happy ending, even though they would appear to be staged in the bargain. This next one shows a guy too busy on his cell phone to participate on the Chicago Bulls kiss cam with his girlfriend. She gets mad, and the Bulls mascot steps in to carry her off. Will a relationship between a human woman and an NBA mascot work out? Only time will tell. Was this a staged incident designed to “go viral” on the internet? Almost certainly. Is it funny? You can decide that for yourself by watching the video in question below.

DO ALL KISS CAMS HAPPEN AT SPORTING EVENTS?
You might wonder if any clever individuals have tried to free the kiss cam from its sporting event prison. Well, at least according to the video we’re about to watch, the answer is sort of ambiguous. On the one hand, yes, there is a kiss cam that wandered around the streets of New York looking for fresh prey. But on the other hand, this particular kiss cam was commissioned by the Cleveland Indians and the MLB Fan Cave, so I’m not really sure if it counts as being removed from a sporting event. Other than that, it’s pretty typical kiss cam material, not the kind of thing you’d normally watch out of context online. But, here it is anyway:
OK, CAN I SEE SOME MORE TRADITIONAL KISS CAM VIDEOS NOW?
Slightly more interesting is this next one, which is one of the few videos written up in this space that has me genuinely curious over whether it was planned or not. At first it seems like an uncomfortable bit of zeal from whoever’s operating the kiss cam, putting two innocent women on the spot just because they happen to be sitting together and wearing matching clothes. But then one of the women gives a little nod, and then … well, I think you’ll appreciate it more if you watch it for yourself:
Sorry to get your hopes up like that, but I wanted you to suffer as I’d suffered.
HOW ABOUT SOME CELEBRITY KISS CAM VIDEOS TO CLOSE US OUT?
Celebrities are often seen courtside taking in NBA games, and in similarly hard-to-get seats at other pro sporting events, but they’re generally taboo to kiss cam operators, who follow the unwritten word not to bother them while they’re enjoying the game. But there are exceptions to this rule, like a recent kiss cam appearance from celebrity couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Even if you hate Kutcher, you’ve got to admit he handles this one well:
Another famous face who made the most out of his shot at kiss cam face is F*R*I*E*N*D*S alum Matthew Perry. This video’s just a little over 30 seconds long, so just stick with it and you’ll get to the good part:
Last but certainly not least is probably the biggest get for any kiss cam operator ever – President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, who had their time in the spotlight at an Olympic basketball team back in 2012. Unfortunately this video doesn’t show the actual kiss cam shot, but you do get to see the Obamas performance from another angle, as if you were sitting off to their side in the stands. Here it is:
