You could say that Keith Richards is being bit of a Bitch.
The 71-year- old rock legend and guitarist for The Rolling Stones threw a lot of shade recently toward some iconic heavy metal bands as well as rap music in general during an interview with the New York Daily News. While promoting his new solo album, the guitarist said;
"Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath. I just thought they were great jokes."
You could say he doesn’t get no satisfaction from heavy metal and the rap music. I guess Keith Richards just doesn’t understand this heavy metal stuff kids are listening to these days. Like the devil horn throwing Black Sabbath, whose first album came out in… 1970. Richards has no…. sympathy for the devil. While the guitar master might not be a fan of Master of Puppets he is also not a fan of Grandmaster Flash. Regarding rap music Richards told the -I’m assuming freaking out interviewer;
“Rap — so many words, so little said. What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.”
I mean, on the one hand if you are able to piss off both Lars Ulrich AND Kanye West in the same interview… maybe you are doing something right? On the other hand it sounds like Keith hates all music from the past 30- 40 years? I guess Richards has only ever listened to Metallica’s St. Anger and ‘Sabbath’s Forbidden (With only one original member left before the Ozzy reunion, Ice-T makes a cameo, holy crap Keith Richards would REALLY hate that song!)
And just in case you are thinking- well OK, an old man doesn’t like metal and rap, big surprise; Richards also talks smack on his contemporaries, The Beatles. He recently called Sgt. Pepper; "a mishmash of rubbish, kind of like like Satanic Majesties — 'Oh, if you can make a load of shit, so can we.'
Damn Keith, it’s only rock and roll and we like it!
Who do you think is better?
