Instant Karma: It's Gonna Get You

WHERE CAN I SEE A BUNCH OF VIDEOS FEATURING INSTANT KARMA IN ACTION?

There are few things more satisfying in the world than instant karma. But before I show you some of the best/funniest/most righteous instant karma videos on the internet, maybe I should explain what exactly the term “instant karma” refers to. To be totally clear, the connection between what people mean when they say “instant karma” and the actual theological concept (in Hinduism and Buddhism) karma is almost non-existent. Instead, the secular, layman says “instant karma” whenever a person’s just desserts come to them immediately instead of over time. Like, for instance, when something like this happens:

The chain of events there couldn’t be clearer. 1: A guy was a dick to another driver on the road. 2: That driver picks up her phone and starts recording. 3: Instant karma rears its head. Now, as satisfying as that might be, it’s not a completely fair example of instant karma – in order for that to be the case, the person recording the footage would have to have a wreck too, for the crimes of recording video while driving (very dangerous) and for cheering the car accident of another person. Don’t do those things, people, no matter how much the other person might deserve it. It’s much better just to let karma take care of these things for you.

DO YOU HAVE ANY MORE VIDEOS SHOWING INSTANT KARMA RAINING DOWN ON MOTORISTS?

For whatever reason, instant karma seems to be most common on the beautiful highways and byways of our planet Earth. Maybe that’s because when you’re going 60 miles an hour, you have less time to think and effectively avoid the karmic punch of life. Or maybe it’s because God hates cars. Either way, there are plenty of videos showing bad drivers getting what’s coming to them in the extensive Break library, like this one:

This is yet another example of how instant karma doesn’t discriminate. The guy’s complaint, that an intersection was being blocked by another driver, was technically legitimate. But instead of just waiting patiently or even just blowing his horn a couple times, this guy just had to get out of his BMW and chew out another driver over it. He should have known that he would very soon have more important things to worry about than making it to a 4:00 meeting on time.

Next up, we have another impatient driver who could have avoided the hassle and embarrassment of instant karma if he or she had just been a little more patient.

Trucks: They are not cars.

HOW ABOUT SOME INSTANT KARMA VIDEOS WHICH AREN’T AUTOMOTIVE IN NATURE?

That would probably be a good idea, especially if you ever want to drive again. The one below teaches a lesson that might be even more valuable than the one that says to be more patient while driving. That lesson would be “don’t mess with babies.” See this lesson play out karmically for yourself below:

Maybe it would have been more accurate to say “don’t mess with babies’ toys.” Either way, the key idea here is that if it belongs to or is a baby, better not do anything to upset it, or you might just get klonked.

Speaking of things you shouldn’t do, you also shouldn’t rudely wake up your friend who is, uh, sleeping on the ground outside. Look, I’m not sure what’s going on in this next video; I’m just relieved that the person on the ground isn’t dead. At least, I hope he isn’t:

This next video of instant karma in action is a lot easier to understand. A guy messes with another guy on the subway, and ends up on the ground with what I would imagine to be a pretty serious headache seconds afterward. This is textbook instant karma:

Instant karma doesn’t just strike down rude drivers or social faux pas, however. Sometimes it stands in for the long arm of the law, stopping a genuine lawbreaker in his tracks, which is exactly what happens in this next video. Let’s watch it together and try to appreciate the myriad lessons it has to impart, shall we?

DO YOU HAVE A GOOD INSTANT KARMA COMPILATION VIDEO TO CLOSE US OUT WITH?

You know I do! And it’s a good thing I saved it for last, because at 27 minutes long, the video below probably contains all the instant karma you can handle in one day. The description of the video says it best: “You never get tired of bullies and jerks getting owned.”

Truer words were never spoken. Now, go out there and try not to live your life in a way that will give lots of people joy if/when you fall down or get hit in the head. It’s really the only decent way to live.
