Mankind has always looked up at the sky and wondered if another race of living, breathing beings are up there and staring back at us. If you’re one of those people who’ve ever wondered that (and if you’re not, please get a personality), you can sift through pages and pages of declassified documents detailing some of the alleged UFO sightings.
The Project Blue Book Collection lists thousands of documents released by the US government that details reported sightings throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The documents came from a government study of the same name conducted by the US Air Force. The people behind the project started gathering reported UFO sightings in 1952 under the shadow of the Cold War to determine if such sightings presented a threat to national security and could prove the existence of UFO or alien life attempting to visit Earth. The project could not find any credible evidence for either claim and closed the book on the project less than 17 years later.
The new website, powered by the Black Vault, lists all 12,000-plus reports on sightings across the country including some of the more famous incidents such as the famous Barney and Betty Hill abduction in 1961 and the Lonnie Zamora sighting of 1964.
Even if you don’t believe in the existence of UFOs, it’s still a fascinating read.
