The Next Star Wars Sequel Has Revealed Its Subtitle

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting theaters during Christmas later this year, Disney isn't to just sit back and let the first one finish. They're already planning on a production date for the second film directed by Godzilla rebooter Gareth Edwards. And they've already chosen a subtitle.

The next Star Wars film, after Force Awakens, will be called...

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE

Not awful, but they are starting to sound like video game titles, aren't they? A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, they all had epic titles. Rogue One sounds like more of a John Wick sequel title, much like Road Warrior. But hey, I'm just in charge of this frozen dinner I'm having for lunch and that's about it. It's all up to Disney to make these great, and I think so far so good...for now.

Regardless, being Rogue One isn't necessarily a position they'd give to a janitor. It's in fact the highest ranking you could achieve in the Rebel Alliance.

Rogue Leader, or Rogue One, was a title and callsign given to the commander of the elite Rebel Alliance/New Republic/Galactic Alliance starfighter group, Rogue Squadron. Because of Rogue Squadron's fame, the person holding the title of Rogue Leader was often considered the best active pilot in the Defense Force.

The film will star Felicity Jones with a December 16th 2016 release date already scheduled. Looking forward to it, if we're all still alive by then! Sheesh.
