Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl pulled a “The Edge” at a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden on Friday when he fell right off the stage in the middle of the rock band’s second song of their show. However unlike the U2 guitarist, Grohl BROKE his leg.
Hopefully he’ll learn to fly again.
For most musicians this would have thrown them bit of a… monkey wrench. Many bands will stop a concert for any reason (Looking at you Axl Rose): The Kings Of Leon stopped a show because birds pooped on them. Not for Dave who said… I’ll stick around .. and finished the concert!
Not kidding: they really were playing Monkey Wrench when he fell.
While we don’t know the color and the shape of Dave’s leg we do know in times like these that Dave is one red blooded dude. As medics tended to him on stage, he grabbed the microphone and told the audience;
“I think I just broke my leg! So look, you have my promise right now that the Foo Fighters, we gotta come back and finish the show, but right now….I’m going to go to the hospital.”
Seems like Dave was actually mended back stage, which luckily wasn’t a long walk. Check it out as Dave talks to the audience of 30 thousand Swedish Foo Fighters fans:
While Dave was back stage getting the Foo put back in his Fighters, drummer Taylor Hawkins took over singing duties as the band rocked a few cover tunes. Then, Dave, who normally runs up and down the stage came back out and performed seated with this leg bandaged. Looks like he won’t be jogging along any sonic highways for a long time, OK I’m done. Everlong.
UPDATE: The official Foo Fighters Facebook page posted an X-ray of Dave’s leg and in all my life I have never seen a leg break this gnarly!
