Florida Middle School Student Charged With Cybercrime Over Desktop Picture

For today’s “totally appropriate reaction” we go to Holiday, Florida where an eighth grader named Dominik Green was arrested and charged with a cybercrime. Wow, younger and younger kids are getting more sophisticated with computers; before you know it North Korea will be recruiting our nation’s children to hack the White House.

What exact computer crime did this 14-year-old commit to get charged with a felony? He logged onto the school’s network using a password without permission and changed the background image on the desktop of his teacher’s computer to two dudes kissing. CLASSIC.

Who DOESN’T have this as their desktop background? Niiiice.

In response to the homoerotic pic prank officials at the Paul R. Smith Middle School said that Dominik “hacked” into the school’s secure computer network, making an offense against a computer system with unauthorized access.

Sheriff Chris Nocco told reporters “Even though some might say this is just a teenage prank, who knows what this teenager might have done”

Yeah, who knows?! Maybe he would have changed the teacher’s browser homepage from Hotmail.com to “HotMALE.com” –old school! OR what if the teen made her screen saver play a gallery of a bunch of filthy dick pics?  Then he’d really be in trouble.

The new face of cyber hacking terrorism!

So how did the youngster expertly “hack” into his teacher’s computer? He says its common knowledge amongst the students that the password is simply the last name of the teacher, and he even saw the teacher in question type in the password.  Genius!

Most of the time students use the computer’s cameras to see each other. After Green logged onto one computer that didn’t have a camera he found one that did. He told the local news that:

“So I logged out of that computer and logged into a different one and I logged into a teacher’s computer who I didn’t like and tried putting inappropriate pictures onto his computer to annoy him,” Green said.

So now the 14-year-old is charged with a felony for doing something stupid. I’m sure all the kids physically assaulted on a daily basis by bullies who are then merely sent to the principal’s office for a “time out” –  totally agree that this is a just and fair punishment. Classic.
