Guess Which Celeb Is In Trouble For ‘Cultural Appropriation’ At MTV Movie Awards

For those of you who do not know the 10-car pileup of a person that Farrah Abraham is, here’s a quick and easy summary:

In the event that you prefer to read instead of watch videos (like me, though I  know I’m a dying breed), Farrah Abraham is a vapid waste of human flesh that initially became famous after appearing on 16 and Pregnant for, YOU GUESSED IT, getting knocked up at 16. Since then she’s had a sex tape “accidentally” get leaked…

…and she also wrote…

…which is the equivalent of Mama June writing a book on the keto diet and how ketchup is not part of the food pyramid.

But now that you’ve all been #blessed with the knowledge of who Farrah Abraham is, it’s high time we examine why people have been shitting on her lately:

Farrah Abraham kept her name in the lights at the MTV Movie and TV Awards with a Bollywood-inspired dress that she swears isn’t cultural appropriation.

The 25-year-old “Teen Mom” reality star walked the red carpet in a three-piece pink and gold sari with a bindi and headpiece Sunday night.

But Abraham said she wasn’t worried about any possible backlash because she “wanted to bring culture to the red carpet.”

“I think this will inspire others to embrace new cultures and have good experiences,” she told TooFab. (via)

Let’s take a look at the outfit in question:

Personally, I think this is a stupid outfit to wear if you’re not Hindu. Out of every dress, pantsuit or scantily-clad lingerie set you found while looking for something to wear to the MTV Movie Awards, THIS is the best you found? It’s the same as showing up for a 4th of July party dressed head to toe in French flag gear carrying a basket of croissants and losing at every game of beer pong; you just don’t do it. If you DO do it, it’s because you’re whoring for attention and want people to come up and ask what the fuck you’re doing.

This, in my opinion, is a simple cry for attention.

And while I’m not convinced that cultural appropriation is a legit thing (if you are white and have dreadlocks you are not culturally appropriating, you are just a Bob Marley wannabe who happens to be too lazy to bathe regularly), I do see this as being in poor taste. The bindi (the red gem between Abraham’s eyes) is a religious and spiritual symbol in Hinduism, and wearing it for shits and kicks so people will gawk at you is, in my opinion, genuinely not cool. Is it the end of the world? No – but you’d probably be pissed if you saw someone walking around with a crucifix visibly protruding from their ass, running around trying to get their picture taken. This is similar, if not the same thing.

Unsurprisingly, people flocked to Farrah’s Instagram to shit on her…

…but not everyone hated the outfit. Some people just hated her face:

Next time skip the drama and put on a dress, will ya?
