Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is on the forefront of revolutionary technology, creating electric cars with Tesla Motors, advanced solar panels with Solar City and launching new rockets with SpaceX he hopes to use one day to colonize Mars. So when he says that there is a significant and potential extinction level threat involved with the creation of artificial intelligence, maybe we should listen to him. I’m just saying; when we are all sitting around in our cages and the robots are syphoning off our blood for fuel you might take his warning more seriously. (Don’t ask me why they use human blood for fuel and not one of those Tesla batteries Elon Musk created; I’m not a killer artificially intelligent robot.)
“Elon, why don’t you want me to be created, Elon?“
Last week Musk was at a talk at MIT when he gave a dire warning about the implications of creating machine based artificial intelligence. He told the audience;
“With artificial intelligence we are summoning the demon,” he said. “You know all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water, and it’s like yeah, he’s sure he can control the demon. Doesn’t work out.”

Watch the whole interview, or not, its just about the future of humanity, – whatever.
OK, seriously satanic robot demons sound pretty kick ass, so what’s the problem? Well, according to old doomsday Elon over here the problem is that creating artificial intelligence could have huge side effects. Instead of getting those self-driving cars and sex robots we always wanted, we could have an actual Terminator type scenario on our hands before we know it.
“I think we should be very careful about artificial intelligence. If I were to guess at what our biggest existential threat is, it’s probably that.” In the past he has also said that AI could be more dangerous than nuclear weapons.
Another article that stereotypes killer robots, come on!
People like Stephen Hawking have warned about the potential dangers of AI as well. Others have postulated that artificial intelligence could be a larger threat than any alien intelligence we may eventually meet. While intelligent alien creatures from another planet may be seemingly very foreign to us, we can assume that they would have to go through a similar evolutionary process like we did over millions of years. They will have gained survival instincts, seeking food, shelter and resources that will help shape their outlook on the universe and possibly foster a respect for life. Computer intelligence will have gone through none of that and therefore have a very unpredictable behavior. The machines could feel that humans may make better doorstops than they do chess playing partners.
Old Vagina Face isn’t so bad after all.
So if Siri starts copping an attitude with you, it may be time to turn her off and start living off the grid. That, or hop on one of Elon Musk’s SpaceX rockets and head for Mars… all this time he has been planning for the ultimate survival bunker!
Oh, I see what you did there.
What do you think? Does the creation of artificial intelligence pose a threat to humanity?
