For today’s outrage we go to Portland, Maine where the owner of Marcy’s Diner Darla Neugebauer got called out on her restaurant’s Facebook page for screaming at a toddler. Why would she do that?
In what I picture as one of those humorous wildly different reenactments you see in sitcoms when one side explains what happened and then the other, Neugebauer claims that the parents of the two year old ordered three huge pancakes for the kid and then refused to give them to her. This caused this child to cry for at least an HOUR, annoying other patrons and staff. Finally Neugebauer had enough;
“I chose to yell at a kid. It made her shut up, which made me happy, it made my staff happy, it made the other 75 people dining here happy, and they left.”
Pancakes made with hate taste way better.
However, Tara Carson, the child’s mother sees it differently, saying that after her daughter cried for a bit, ten minutes later the diner owner snapped at the child like a lunatic telling her to shut the hell up. She says in her post:
After an incident like this most businesses would attempt a halfhearted apology or call the whole thing a “misunderstanding.” If you thought this small business owner would back pedal from the incident, you would be wrong. This lady should be Donald Trump’s running mate as she gives exactly zero fucks what people think. Just check out her response to Carson on Facebook where she totally owns it!
She goes on to post to the rest of her customers on the Facebook page;

Trump- Neugebauer 2016! –Big business owner and small business owner coming together to tell America to go fuck itself. Who wouldn’t watch that?
People responded on social media saying that they would never eat at Marcy’s Diner in downtown Portland, Maine again. Others have come to the defense of Neugebauer. One thing I think we can all agree on is she knows how to speak her mind. Check out this great interview where she explains what happened from her point of view;
This is why I love mom and pop operations. They are not afraid of being fired by their corporate overlords and they do not have to take your crap. The customer is not always right; the customer is just a person and people are assholes. That’s not to say that this lady is correct; we have no idea what actually happened in that restaurant. That being said, which side are you on; the parents of screaming toddler or angry diner owner?!
