Clay Aiken’s Congressional Opponent Found Dead

The rival of former American Idol contestant, singer Clay Aiken in the North Carolina Democratic Primary for Congress was found dead at his home on Monday. 71 year-old Keith Crisco was a former North Carolina Secretary of Commerce and the owner of the Asheboro Elastics company tragically fell down the stairs… wait what? Clay Aiken is running for congress?! Yes it’s true, but you might wonder how the velvet tonged idol is qualified for congress:

Way more people voted for him on Idol.

The primary race between Aiken and Crisco is extremely close with Aiken leading by only 369 votes at the time of Crisco’s death. Votes are still being counted and a Demectratic nominee has not been announced yet. Some might jump to conclusions here and say that Clay Aiken is a suspect. After all, he would have a lot to gain and has been burned in the past by voters not going his way.

Ruben Studdard better watch his back.

However, some would be dicks to assume that. Clay tweeted out his condolences to Crisco's family and supporters, and suspended all of his campaign activity out of respect.

I am stunned and deeply saddened by Keith Crisco’s death. He was a gentleman, a good and honorable man and an extraordinary public servant.

I am suspending all campaign activities as we pray for his family and friends.

With Mr. Crisco's untimely passing we are reminded that even if you serve your community for decades and work really hard, your obituary can still end up being all all about this guy.
