CBS Has Unveiled Their 'Supergirl' But Is She Hot Enough?

Maybe hot isn't exactly the right word, but when it comes to comic book characters portrayed by real people for live action adaptations, I'm a little bit picky and expect almost a super human quality. Not a librarian's assistant. CBS has unveiled images of Melissa Benoist in full Supergirl costume for their new show and I'm just not convinced.

Mary Jane, ladies and---I mean, Supergirl! That's...Supergirl.

Don't get me wrong, she's definitely cute and would make a great Daphne for Scooby Doo, but she doesn't have that super human alien being vibe going in any of the two images released by CBS. I'm judging Supergirl's looks based on the same criteria as judging the new Aquaman image by it's origin merits. Aquaman should be blonde, he lives in the ocean, gets hit by sunlight all day long, he should be blonde. Case and point, I think Helen Slater from 1984 looks like a much better Supergirl and that was over thirty years ago.

Second of all, is CBS' new Supergirl a ginger? Here's a second pic. Maybe it's just my eyes.

If this new Supergirl looks at all familiar, you might remember her from the movie Whiplash where she played the drummer's love interest, which was her big foray into feature films after some steady television roles. Here's CBS' synopsis of their show which is set to premiere sometime this year:

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

So what do you guys think? Is this a perfect Supergirl or should CBS keep looking?
