Facebook Gave This Woman A Culinary Tip That Burned Down Her Kitchen

Facebook is a lot of things to a lot of people, but as a bastion of smart information on grilled cheese hacks, it is flat out the worst. At least if we look at the stupid, sad yet somehow cheesy tale of Suzanne Dale and her toaster as seen in the picture above. She saw on Facebook a “tip” that if you put your toaster on its side with some bread and cheese, it will magically toast the bread and do wonders for the melting process. In her case, it succeeded with the melting process. And by melting, we don’t mean the cheese.

Soon after she started cooking her culinary/idiotic feast, smoke started coming out of the toaster, which then burst into flames. How can this be, she wondered, as it was on Facebook?  Luckily, she took it upon herself to be a good Samaritan and warn other would-be home cooks. “There has since been 2,000 shares and so many comments. It is probably a good thing, if I was stupid enough to do it someone else will be. Lots of people said ‘I was going to try this, I thought it was a good idea.’”

Her greatest quote, and one that she should surely turn into a tattoo directly on her forehead, as well as a bumper sticker for her car, was “I thought it might be a faster way of making cheese on toast.”

The Greater Manchester Fire Service, the fire-fighting brigade in her city, said that “We recommend people always take care and pay attention to anything they are cooking in the kitchen. Trying to make cheese and toast in a toaster is an extremely bad idea and can cause a devastating fire in the kitchen.”

It’s times like this that we wish we were lactose intolerant rather than just intolerant of morons.
