Everyone and their grandmother is excited about Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it’s not the battles, cameos and various other elements the film might have to offer that’s really getting people going. It’s the mainstay of the inevitable post-end credits scene that usually occurs in practically every Marvel movie. Of course everyone loved the two alternate post-end credits scenes in the first Avengers with either the group sitting in a destroyed diner enjoying a meal after the hell they just went through (which wasn’t played internationally in theaters) or the end scene where Thanos is finally revealed. Unfortunately, for the sequel’s post-end credits scene, we have some bad news for you.
There will not be a post-end credits scene in Avengers 2.
With the movie almost a month away, people are already wondering what to expect and we call this a spoiler because, well, it does pretty much ruin what you were hoping for. But hey, at least we saved you time (and heartache) sitting through the end credits to find out zilch is there beyond watching theater workers clean up after everyone’s mess. Seriously, you’re adults, throw your garbage away.
Nevertheless, apparently there is a little something being offered to fans. The president of Marvel Kevin Feige says there will be a “tag”, but not a post-end credits scene, whatever that means. Feige and Whedon explain why they decided to not go with a post-credits scene to Entertainment Weekly.
Joss Whedon, writer/director of The Avengers, confirmed that there would be no scene at the end, because he felt there would be no way to top the film’s last post-credits scene.
“We all came at it separately—we don’t want to chase that,” Joss told EW. “That was a jewel and a weird little quirk.”
“There will be a tag,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige added . “But there’s not a post-post-credit scene.”
“There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out, we want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’” Joss Whedon said.
I can only assume a tag is something along the lines of The Evil Dead reboot where Bruce Campbell turns to camera saying “Groovy” after the credits rolled. Not a scene, but nothing thrilling either, so that’s about what I’ll expect.
