Not long ago, Bruce Campbell teased an image of his return performance as Ash from one of the greatest horror movie franchises of all time, The Evil Dead, only this time he's playing the character for Starz in Ash VS. Evil Dead due to premiere this fall. Everyone has been anticipating what Campbell would look like as the shotgun wielding, chainsaw carrying demon killer considering he hasn't played the role since 1993 in Army of Darkness but now, you shan't wait any longer.
Three things off the bat that one can love regarding this first image; Bruce Campbell is playing Ash again! Second, he's still wearing his iconic blue shirt. And third, he's standing amongst what looks like S-Mart employees in what might be the grocery store's breakroom. Just too awesome.
Here's the official Starz press release to explain a bit more about the hell Ash is up to these days since the early 90's.
Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
Read the rest of the release HERE. Frankly, I could care less what the show is about. Campbell and Sam Raimi, the original director of all three films, are back together to create more awesome and that's all I need. The rest will hopefully come together.
