7 Animal Memes Every Human Should See

What's more irresistible than a cute animal photo? A cute animal photo with hilarious, witty text scrolled across it, of course. Memes have been taking over the Internet the past few years as people laugh and share their often-inappropriate humor.

These seven animal memes are some of the best of the meme world, so if you haven't seen them yet, then come out from under that rock and head to your nearest search engine.

Confession Bear

Confession Bear is featured in a series of bear photos with strange, humorous confessions. The original photo of the bear was taken by photojournalist Clemens Bilan on April, 12th 2007. Several years later Redditor F-18Bro created the meme on June 21, 2012.

His intention was to use Confession Bear to get weird stuff off his chest anonymously with confessions like, "When I have an argument with my girlfriend, I tighten the top of every jar and bottle in the house," or "I purposely don't poop in the morning, so I can get paid to do it at work." Within four days the post had 13,000 up votes and 1,100 comments. Meme responses to some of the confessions were created in the form of Bear Grylls, and Futurama Fry.

Socially Awkward Penguin

The advice animal image macro series, Socially Awkward Penguin, lacks both social skills and self-esteem. The original image of the Adeli penguin was taken by nature photographer George F. Mobley. It was submitted for National Geographic's Wild Animals site. The meme started appearing on 4chan in May 2009.

Socially Awkward Penguin originated by the creator to help him with anxiety. Fans reassured him that everyone feels uncomfortable sometimes, and encouraged him to keep creating the meme. His quotes include, "the awkward moment when your sarcasm is so advance, people actually think you are stupid," or "tells friend an interesting story, he's the one who told you about it before."

Business Cat

The Business Cat, appropriately suited with tie and collar, is an advice animal image macro series. On Jan. 1, 2011 Something Awful forum user Apple Jax posted a photo of the cat, Emilio, already dressed in his business attire. Business Cat's meme text always includes something an office boss would say, but finishes with something a cat would do. Some of the memes read, "We're going to have to think outside the box here, I just pooped in it," or "this deal smells fishy, where do I sign?"

Anti-Joke Chicken

Anti-Joke Chicken became popular after a meme was created through a professional photo of a hen by photographer Marshall E. Tyler, at his home in North Carolina. Created on Quickmeme on Feb. 22, 2011, Anti-Joke Chicken's meme text starts with the top line of text sounding like the introduction of a joke and then the bottom line providing an unexpected anticlimax like "a man walks into a bar and slowly alcoholism tears his family apart," or "there's an Irishman, a homosexual, and a Jew standing at a bar. What a fine example of an integrated community." The meme's height of popularity peaked in April of 2012.

Philosoraptor

The Philosoraptor originally began as an image, intended to be sold on t-shirts. However, someone found the image and created the meme in the late summer of 2008. According to Knowyourmeme.com, the meme is, "deeply immersed in metaphysical inquiries or unraveling quirky paradoxes." The eexistentialist dinosaur can be found thinking, "who put the alphabet, in alphabetical order?" or "if steroids are illegal for professional athletes, should Photoshop be illegal for models?"

Bad Joke Eel

Another advice animal image macro series, Bad Joke Eel does just that -- tells bad puns. The original photograph is of a Moray Eel taken by Jeffrey N. Jeffords while scuba diving in the Philippines for his Dive Gallery.

The first meme that used this photograph was posted via AdviceAnimals subreddit on Jan. 12, 2012. The image was viewed over 400,00 times in the first four days, according to knowyourmeme.com. Bad Joke Eel's meme text reads, "I used to hate facial hair, then it grew on me," or "did you hear about the Mexican train killer? He had locomotives."

Paranoid Parrot

The last advice animal image on this list is the Paranoid Parrot. His meme text relates to an everyday situation followed by a paranoid response like, "watches garage door as it closes, so the murderer can't roll under at the last second," or "brushed up against at concert, immediately check pocket for wallet."

Animal memes are everywhere, but these definitely win as some of the most popular, and the funniest. Which of these animal memes is your favorite?
