Music has played an integral part in Oscar telecasts in the past. Usually it is the Best Original Song nominees who entertain the crowd. The Academy decided to cut out the musical performances in the 2012 Oscars, but this year they packed it with powerhouses. Adele, Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson, and the cast of “Les Miserables” will all be performing. Here are some memorable Oscar music performances.

Three 6 Mafia's performance of It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp was definitely a first for the Oscars. They certainly made waves with Oscar voters in 2006.

Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Anika Noni Rose performing this DreamGirls Medley was like a Diva-Off at the 2007 Oscars.

Michael Jackson singing Ben at the 1973 Oscars. This was Michael's first #1 hit without the Jackson 5. He was 14 Years Old.

Celine Dion singing My Heart Will Go On at the 1998 Oscars. It's probably the biggest movie song ever.

With Celine Dion to compete with in 1998, Elliot Smith did his best to make a noteworthy performance of his song Miss Misery from Good Will Hunting.
