A 4-year-old boy visiting the Cincinnati Zoo managed to crawl through a barrier and fall 12-feet into a gorilla enclosure. The boy, who is being called by the name Isaiah in the above video, was dragged around by the 400-pound gorilla for ten minutes. Zoo officials eventually had to make the difficult decision to shoot and kill the gorilla in order to save the boy.

The gorilla was a popular 17-year-old male named Harambe. When the boy initially fell, there were three gorillas in the enclosure, however the two female gorillas listened when zoo workers called them out of the area.

Critics are saying that the gorilla shouldn’t have been killed. That said, the fact that the boy survived with relatively minor injuries is a relief to everyone — especially the boy’s mom who can be heard in the video above.

R.I.P. Harambe.
